What is a Disney World crowd calendar?

A Disney World crowd calendar forecasts how busy each park will be on a given day, so you can pick lighter days before you book. It can't promise empty lines. It shows you which days tilt in your favor.

Crowds shape almost everything on a Disney trip: standby waits, how many rides you fit in, and how relaxed your day feels. In our experience, picking the right week does more for your trip than any single touring trick.

We keep ours free for everyone. For the seasonal big picture (weather, festivals and pricing), see our guide to the best time to visit Disney World.

How do our Disney World crowd scores work?

Each park gets a daily crowd score. The higher the number, the busier the park. In the current 12-month forecast, park scores run from 17 to 70.

Each number is a forecast crowd score (higher = busier), built from historical wait-time patterns and the park calendar.

Use it to compare days, not to predict minutes. A 40 is clearly busier than a 25, but the score is not a wait time.

The calendar sorts every score into five color bands, the same colors you see on each day:

Color Crowd level Score Share of park-days*
Green Light Crowd 18 or less 0.3%
Light green Below Average 19–25 9.5%
Blue Average Crowd 26–30 18.3%
Yellow Above Average 31–40 55.8%
Red Heavy Crowds 41+ 16.1%

*All four parks, September 2026 – August 2027 (1,460 park-days).

Yellow is the most common color on the calendar. Green days are rare: only 5 in the whole forecast, all at EPCOT. When you spot a cluster of light-green and blue days, that week deserves a hard look.

Pixie Tip: Don't chase one green day. Look for a run of lighter days that matches your trip length, then put your most important park on the lightest day in that run.

How is the Disney World crowd calendar organized?

It's a monthly calendar with a separate score for each of the four parks on every day. Use the arrows to change months and the Today button to jump back to the current date.

Each day lists:

Some months also show a Resort line. That's an overall score that tracks closely with the average of the four parks.

What does the crowd calendar not show?

It does not show park hours, weather, dining reservation windows, party nights or ride closures. Those change often, so check them separately:

Pixie Tip: Found a light week? Check it against party nights and park hours before you book. A great score on a day Magic Kingdom closes early is not the full-day bargain it looks like.

March has the most red days of any month. On 23 of its 31 days, at least one park scores 41 or higher. December has 15.

How different is a busy day from a slow day at Disney World?

Very different. The busiest day in our forecast scores about three times higher than the lightest.

Averaged across the four parks, scores range from 19.8 (September 1, 2026) to 61.8 (December 29, 2026). A typical day sits at 33.8.

Park Lightest day Typical day (median) Busiest day Swing
Magic Kingdom 19 33 54 35 points
EPCOT 17 28 65 48 points
Hollywood Studios 23 37 68 45 points
Animal Kingdom 19 37 70 51 points
4-park average 19.8 33.8 61.8 42 points

Animal Kingdom and EPCOT swing the most. EPCOT is normally the calmest park, yet it jumps to 65 on New Year's Eve, the one day in the forecast when it is the busiest of the four.

On a slow day, a loose plan works fine. On a peak day, the same trip needs an early start, a Lightning Lane plan and backup choices.

Our guide to rope dropping Disney World like a pro shows how to win the first hour.

Pixie Tip: If your dates land in the red, arrive before park opening and ride your top two headliners first. Then use the lighter parks on the calendar for your most relaxed days.

What are Disney World crowd levels month by month?

September 2026 is the lightest month (25.2) and December 2026 is the busiest (39.7), with March 2027 close behind (39.3). Here are monthly average scores for each park:

Summer is steady rather than spiky. July 2027 averages 34.0 but has just one red day. The heat is the bigger challenge, and our Disney World FAQ covers how to handle it.

Which Disney World park is the busiest?

Hollywood Studios is the busiest park in our forecast, averaging 38.1. It has the highest score of the four parks on 258 of 365 days.

EPCOT is the least crowded park, averaging 29.0, and it has the lowest score on 337 of 365 days.

Park 12-month average Busiest park on Lightest park on
Hollywood Studios 38.1 258 days 1 day
Animal Kingdom 36.9 104 days 1 day
Magic Kingdom 33.5 2 days 26 days
EPCOT 29.0 1 day 337 days

One easy move: save EPCOT for your busiest travel day and Hollywood Studios for your lightest. Holidays can flip the order, though. On July 4, 2027, Magic Kingdom (40) is the busiest park.

Do weekdays matter for Disney World crowds?

Much less than most people think. In our 12-month forecast, every day of the week averages within about one point.

Day 4-park avgAvg
Monday 34.4
Tuesday 34.4
Wednesday 34.6
Thursday 34.2
Friday (lightest) 33.6
Saturday 34.8
Sunday 34.8

Friday is the lightest or tied-for-lightest day at all four parks, but a one-point edge won't change your trip. The week you pick matters far more than the weekday.

Proof: every Saturday in September 2026 scores lower than every weekday between Christmas and New Year's.

Weekday patterns do show up inside individual parks, like Magic Kingdom's party-season “sandwich days.” Our guide to the best and worst days to visit each Disney World park breaks those down.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the most reliable Disney World crowd calendar?

The most useful crowd calendars forecast each park separately, update regularly and are clear about what they cover. Ours shows a daily score for all four parks, is updated weekly and is free.

What is the least crowded month at Disney World?

September is the least crowded month in our 2026–2027 forecast, averaging 25.2. August 2027 (30.1) and May 2027 (32.2) are next. December 2026 (39.7) and March 2027 (39.3) are the busiest months.

Is September too hot to visit Disney World?

September is hot and humid, and it's hurricane season, so rain and storms are more likely. The payoff is the lightest crowds of the year. Our best time to visit guide weighs weather against crowds.

How far ahead should I plan a Disney World trip?

We suggest booking 12–18 months ahead for the best resort choices. Dining reservations open 60 days before check-in. Use this calendar to narrow your week first, and see our Disney World FAQ for the full booking timeline.

Do crowd calendars account for holidays, runDisney and parties?

Holidays and school breaks show up clearly: Christmas, Presidents Day, Easter and Thanksgiving weeks rank among the busiest. runDisney weekends and party nights affect resorts and park hours beyond what a crowd score captures, so check event dates.

How often is the Disney World crowd calendar updated?

We update the forecast weekly. Crowd patterns shift when Disney adds events, changes hours or opens new rides, so check back before you finalize your dates.

Which Disney World park is least crowded?

EPCOT is the least crowded park in our forecast, averaging 29.0. It has the lowest score of the four parks on 337 of 365 days. Hollywood Studios is the busiest, averaging 38.1.

What is the busiest day at Disney World?

December 29, 2026 is the busiest day in our forecast, with a four-park average of 61.8. The whole stretch from Christmas through New Year's is the most crowded time of the year.

Does booking with a Disney travel agent cost more?

No. Planning with Pixie Vacations costs $0. You pay the same price as booking directly with Disney. See why families book with us instead, or get a free quote.
