Topolino’s Terrace Breakfast is a rooftop character dining experience at Disney’s Riviera Resort, featuring Mickey and friends in artistic costumes, a prix-fixe pastry basket and entrée, and one of the most elegant morning character meals at Walt Disney World.

If you’re planning a Walt Disney World trip and want a refined — but still delightfully Walt Disney World character breakfast, we have a perfect choice for you. Topolino’s Terrace at Disney’s Riviera Resort is one of the best breakfast options on the property. This guide focuses on the morning character experience (Breakfast à la Art with Mickey & Friends) and answers the questions guests ask most: where is it, how much does it cost, what’s on the menu, which characters appear, whether you need a reservation, and finally — our review: is it worth it?

Where is Topolino’s Terrace located?

Topolino’s Terrace is on the rooftop (the 10th floor) of Disney’s Riviera Resort, a Disney Vacation Club (DVC) resort inspired by European Riviera style. All guests can make advance dining reservations and take the elevator up to the top floor for this airy, light-filled dining room with large windows and an open feel. The restaurant’s position above the resort offers a pleasant elevated view, especially if you time your visit to enjoy sunrise light or the later-dinner ambience. It also carries the resort’s upscale European theming, but it doesn’t feel stuffy or overly opulent. The restaurant is well laid out, with comfortable spacing between the tables.
Getting There

Disney Skyliner
If you’re coming from the Walt Disney World theme parks, the most common approaches are Disney buses (to Disney’s Riviera Resort), Disney Skyliner (Riviera is on the Disney Skyliner line, but note the Skyliner connects to certain parks/stations, so plan accordingly), or driving to Disney’s Riviera Resort and parking there. Once inside the resort, elevators take you up to the rooftop restaurant entrance. Cast members will guide reservations and walk-ins to the host stand.
Why the Location Matters
Being on the top floor helps Topolino’s feel more grown-up and resort-stylish than many other character breakfasts. Additionally, the décor and lighting reinforce the “Flavors of the Riviera” theme, which is part of the appeal for adults seeking character dining without a heavy buffet vibe.
How Expensive is the Character Breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace?

Pricing for Walt Disney World dining changes occasionally, so always check the official listing before you book. That said, the Breakfast à la Art character breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace has been operating as a prix-fixe meal with pricing in the following range:
- Adults (ages 10+): roughly $52 per adult (various sources around 2025 reported $52
- Children (ages 3–9): $33 per child.
Some discounts apply, including the 10% Walt Disney World annual passmember and DVC discounts. Tax and gratuity are not included in the listed price and will be added to your final bill. If you’re using a dining plan, this character meal counts as one Table Service credit. Specialty beverages (e.g., alcoholic breakfast cocktails, specialty coffees) are available as add-ons.
Is that expensive compared to other character breakfasts? While it may sound pricey for breakfast, it aligns with other character dining at Walt Disney World. However, what sets Topolino’s apart is its elevated prix-fixe menu and rooftop setting (as opposed to buffet-style character breakfasts). Some guests consider the price a premium for the location, presentation, and more upscale menu.
Topolino’s Terrace Breakfast Food

Wild Mushroom Scramble
Let’s talk about the food (the most essential part for many adults)
Format: Prix-Fixe (basket + entrée)
Topolino’s character breakfast is not a buffet. Instead, each guest receives a shared pastry basket to start (the “Breakfast à la Art” pastry selection) followed by a choice of entrée from the prix-fixe menu. This approach gives Topolino’s a more plated/restaurant feel. It’s structured and a little more grown-up than the typical family buffet while still being family-friendly.
What’s In the Pastry Basket?

The pastry selection typically includes multiple items such as croissants, pain au chocolat, muffins, and other bakery items. Bread lovers will enjoy sampling several freshly baked options. The basket is intended to be shared, but it’s generous enough to complement each guest’s entrée. If your group runs out of pastries, you can ask your server for more. During many of our visits, we have eaten between seven and ten pastries. Yes, we enjoy pastries and especially these.
Entrée Highlights

Menu November 2025
- Quiche Gruyère — a rich, savory quiche that leans into classic European flavors.
- Eggs Benedict Florentine — a classic with hollandaise and a spinach twist.
- Wild Mushroom Scramble — flavorful, often described as a more elevated scrambled egg option.
- Avocado and Smoked Salmon Toast — a modern, lighter choice that adults often choose.
- Two Eggs Any Style — usually served with quality accompaniments (breads, potatoes, or similar sides).
- Steak and Eggs- This stands as one of the best breakfast options at Walt Disney World.
For kids, the prix-fixe children’s menu usually includes smaller, kid-friendly entrees and sides, selected to please younger palates while remaining well-executed.
Beverage Options

Standard coffee, tea, juices, and soft drinks are available. Specialty beverages, such as espresso drinks, breakfast cocktails, and signature non-alcoholic beverages, are available at an additional cost. Guests also receive the Topolino’s Terrace breakfast version of POG juice.
Is the Food Good at Topolino’s Terrace?

Eggs Benedict Florentine
In simple terms, the breakfast meal at Topolino’s Terrace ranks as one of the best at Walt Disney World, if not the best. For example, the pastries show off the theme of Disney’s Riviera Resort and offer variety and flavor not found at other Walt Disney World character breakfasts.
The plated entrees taste more refined than typical character-buffet offerings. Our experience at Topolino’s Terrace breakfast includes entrees with robust flavors and unique appeal. For example, the steak-and-eggs entrée offers the best version of this breakfast on the property.
Only a few weeks ago, we ordered the Wild Mushroom Scramble. This plant-based entrée exceeds what most guests would expect from an omelet. Additionally, guests can order this with non-plant-based components, like we did, during that visit. The flavors exceed those offered by other Walt Disney World character breakfast options. Topolino’s Terrace continues to provide good service. Guests regularly mention attentive servers who balance character flow with timely plated service.
Topolino’s Terrace Breakfast Critiques

Although there are exceptions, Topolino’s Terrace’s character breakfast offers a meal that adults and children will enjoy. Despite this, some guests continue to voice concerns about the breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace.
Common critiques involve price-related concerns. These have merit, but only because of insufficient information. Those guests report receiving far less food than at a Walt Disney World character buffet. By definition, that rings true, since a buffet is all you can enjoy. In contrast, the Topolino’s Terrace breakfast is prix fixe and therefore limited.
However, the mistake many guests make relates to a lack of knowledge. Guests at Topolino’s Terrace receive the pastry basket and an entrée. Nonetheless, the pastries are unlimited, which many guests are unaware of. Also, and more importantly for this criticism, guests can select an additional side with their entrée. This is not spelled out on the printed menu or the online information. However, we have never been denied an additional side when requesting one. Now, we may be told that only certain sides are available.
For example, a common add-on side for the Steak and Egg, which already comes with potatoes, is the Sour Cream Waffle. During our most recent breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace, we requested an additional side. Our server offered bacon, which we selected.
Topolino’s Terrace Breakfast: Additional Side Guidelines

Sour Cream Waffle Side
- If you can add a side of the Sour Cream Waffle, do it! This may be the best waffle on Walt Disney World property
- Additional sides must be ordered with your entrée. If you forget or wait, then it is too late!
- Please ask nicely when speaking to your cast member. Although rare, we have received reports that the chefs were unable to accommodate additional sides that day. In fairness, none of these reports can confirm that all proper steps were taken when ordering
- When Topolino’s Terrace opened back in 2019, guests could order more than one additional side. This is no longer the case.
- Similar to the last guideline, some guests and theme park media reported that guests could get unlimited entrees when dining at Topolino’s Terrace breakfast. This was never true. However, the confusion arose because the sides offered were smaller versions of entrees, such as the Sour Cream Waffle.
Going Hungry at Topolino’s Terrace Breakfast?

Steak and Eggs
If a guest goes hungry at the Topolino’s Terrace breakfast, it is their fault for poor planning or lack of information. While we wish the menu spelled out the additional side aspect, guests should always advocate for themselves. Even those of us who report on food for a living have never felt hungry after leaving the character meal at Topolino’s Terrace. Of course, we enter the dining area fully armed with a plan, experience, and proper information. In fairness, procedures do change at Walt Disney World restaurants, so always politely ask your server for all your options.

One additional criticism of Topolino’s Terrace breakfast concerns the kids’ meals. Some guests have voiced that some of the kids’ entrées may be more “adult” than a small child prefers (so plan accordingly for younger eaters). However, children can get Mickey Waffles on a stick, which look very appealing. We may or may not, on a previous visit, have begged for one for our table. Yes, we got two of them, and they are delicious!
Dietary Needs
Topolino’s Terrace is a table-service venue with a prix-fixe menu, and Walt Disney World cast members are easily able to accommodate common dietary requests (gluten-free, vegetarian, food allergies) if you notify them at the time of booking or upon arrival. For very specific needs, call Disney Dining in advance so a chef or manager can confirm accommodations. On many occasions, we have seen chefs come to the table to discuss guests’ exact dietary needs and options. Walt Disney World serves as one of the best places to dine with any dietary needs.
Topolino’s Terrace Breakfast: Did We Mention It Is a Character Meal?

Topolino’s Terrace character breakfast features Mickey and friends — specifically, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, and Daisy Duck — dressed in artist-inspired “à la art” costumes themed to the Riviera and the restaurant’s artful concept. Topolino’s Terrace at Disney’s Riviera Resort features Mickey Mouse (painter), Minnie Mouse (poet), Donald Duck (sculptor), and Daisy Duck (ballerina) for their “Breakfast à la Art,” offering unique artist-themed outfits and fun character interactions during breakfast, but not dinner.
The characters typically parade and visit tables, offering selfies, autographs, and playful moments tailored for families. Photos and coverage of these costumes (artist-inspired looks) were highlighted when the restaurant opened.
Important Details About Character Interactions

- Parade-style visits: Characters usually make table rounds and often do a short parade or meet-and-greet circuit so guests across the room have a chance to interact. This format preserves the restaurant’s flow while ensuring every table can see the characters.
- Costumes: The outfits are unique to Topolino’s — think painting outfits, artistic jackets, berets, ballerina costumes, and Riviera-inspired touches rather than the standard park costumes. They’re a highlight for many guests because they’re distinctive and photogenic.
- Interaction style: Traditionally, Topolino’s character interactions are affectionate and family-friendly: hugs and high-fives for kids, posed photos, and autograph opportunities.
A note about variability: characters and appearances are subject to change (seasonal rotations, cast scheduling, and special events can affect who appears). Things may change at the last minute. Despite that, we have never heard of any of the Fab Four Disney characters missing this breakfast.
Do We Need to Make a Reservation?

Rooftop Area
Short answer: Yes — strongly recommended.
Topolino’s Terrace breakfast is very popular and often books up quickly. At the time of writing, this meal remains one of the top ten hardest advance reservations to acquire at Walt Disney World. If interested, ask your “Pixie” at Pixie Vacation for advice on acquiring one of these coveted spots. Here are the booking essentials:
Guidelines
- Book early: Disney dining reservations typically open 60 days in advance for most guests (and up to 60 days plus length of stay for Disney Resort hotel guests); check the current policy when planning. For Topolino’s, breakfast fills up early—if it’s high on your must-do list, be ready when your reservation window opens.
- Walk-ups are possible but uncertain: If you’re staying at Riviera Resort and can swing by on a whim, the rooftop lounge and bar sometimes accommodate walk-ins when space allows, but the character breakfast itself is best secured with a reservation. If you don’t have a reservation, ask the host about bar seating or standby lists.
- Cancellation policy: Disney’s standard cancellation policy applies; you may be charged a fee for no-shows or late cancellations at some dining locations. Confirm the policy when you book. At this time, guests must cancel their advanced dining reservation at least two hours in advance; otherwise, they will be charged $10 per person.
- Dining Plan and discounts: If you plan to use a Disney Dining Plan credit (when plans are available), Topolino’s has historically been one Table Service credit; Annual Passholders and DVC members may receive discounts—confirm at booking or on Disney’s site.
- Booking tip: if you can’t snag a reservation immediately, keep checking. Guests often have luck in the days before travel when people adjust plans and release reservations. Also consider off-peak breakfast times (very early or late-morning windows) to increase your chances.
Our Review: Is Topolino’s Terrace Breakfast Worth it?

Wild Mushroom Scramble
Short verdict: Yes — for many travelers. Still, it depends on what you value.
Who Will Love It
Adults who want an elevated character breakfast will enjoy this. If you’re a parent (or couple) who appreciates higher-quality food, freshly baked pastries, and a stylish restaurant setting, Topolino’s feels like a grown-up character meal. The prix-fixe format means plated entrées rather than the rushed buffet scramble; many adult guests prefer this. There is no fear of missing a character coming by while you go to the buffet at Topolino’s Terrace.
Families who want great photo ops without the chaos will love the Topolino’s Terrace breakfast. The artist-inspired costumes and the open, well-lit space make for excellent photos, as long as you do not take them with the main windows in the background! Characters are engaged, and the experience is designed for in-room meet-and-greets.
Guests staying at Disney’s Riviera Resort or along the Disney Skyliner route should consider breakfast here. The convenience factor is real: if you’re staying on site at Riviera or can easily get there, Topolino’s is a comfortable, nearby splurge.
Who Might Pass
- Budget travelers who prioritize saving on food: there are cheaper character options and buffet meals that may offer more perceived value for bulk eaters. If your party is large and price-sensitive, you’ll need to weigh the cost per person.
- Guests with picky little kids who prefer simple breakfast items from a buffet: because the menu is more plated and somewhat “adult,” some kids might prefer the straightforward selections found at other character buffets. That said, children’s entrées are available, and staff are typically accommodating.
Experience Highlights (What Makes Topolino’s Terrace Worth It For Many Guests)

- Quality of food — pastries and entrée execution are consistently praised. The culinary approach is more European-Riviera than typical theme-park offerings.
- Setting and ambience — rooftop dining with lots of natural light, tasteful decor, and an overall relaxed, upscale atmosphere.
- Character presentation — unique costumes and thoughtful meet-and-greet flow. Photographers and social feeds consistently showcase the themed outfits.
- Service — guests often point to polished service that balances table timing with character visits, which reduces the chaotic feel sometimes associated with character buffets.
- Do not forget about the rooftop viewing area. Guests can easily walk outside to view the area from this location.
Potential Downsides – Be Realistic
- Price vs. quantity debate: Since it’s not a buffet, some guests feel the price is high relative to portion size — you’re paying for quality, atmosphere, and character interaction rather than unlimited plates.
- Availability: it’s a popular reservation; if you can’t book it, you might be disappointed. Plan ahead.
- Character roster is stable but limited: you’ll meet classic favorites (Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy) — if you want a more varied character lineup (e.g., princesses, rarely-seen characters), book a different character meal.
Practical Tips to Make the Most of Breakfast à la Art

- Book as early as possible. Set an alarm for your reservation window or try right at 60 days (or earlier if you’re staying on property and have extended booking privileges).
- Choose timing wisely. Early seating tends to be calmer and lets you enjoy the rest of your park day sooner; late morning can be more lively but also busier.
- Bring an autograph book and camera. The costumes are photogenic, and the interactions will make for memorable photos. Cast members typically allow plenty of time for group shots.
- Ask about dietary needs when you check in. The kitchen usually accommodates allergies and dietary restrictions well with advance notice.
- Consider the overall schedule. If you’re planning park time the same day, map out transit (Skyliner / bus) so you don’t cut it too close for reservations or your first park entry window.
