Pixie Pals Privacy

Pixie Pals Privacy Policy

Effective date: April 27, 2026

This privacy policy explains what information the Pixie Pals mobile app and its companion website collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. Pixie Pals is published by Pixie Vacations, a family-owned travel agency.

If you have any questions about this policy, contact us at steve@pixievacations.com.

1. Who we are

2. What Pixie Pals does (in plain English)

Pixie Pals is a free travel-themed game where you find, hide, and collect cardboard creatures called Pals during your real-world travels — at home, at parks, on cruise ships, and at vacation destinations. The map shows you where Pals are nearby, and as you walk to them you can claim them and earn Pixie Dust points.

3. Information we collect

Information you give us directly

  • Display name you choose for your traveler profile (defaults to a generated name like “Traveler-4925” — you can change it in Settings).
  • Custom Pal names and short descriptions you write when you create your own Pals.
  • Optional referral code when you accept an invite from a friend.
  • Email address and name if you choose to sign in with Apple or Google in a future version of the app. (Today the app uses anonymous accounts only.)

Information collected automatically

  • Approximate or precise location (GPS) while you have the app open, so the map can show Pals near you and let you claim Pals when you’re close enough. We do not track your location in the background and we do not save your historical location trail.
  • Device identifier (an anonymous ID generated by our cloud service, Supabase) so your Pals, Pixie Dust, streaks, and progress can sync between your devices.
  • Game progress — which Pals you’ve caught, which ones you’ve hidden, your Pixie Dust balance, your daily streak, and similar gameplay data.
  • Local weather conditions at your current location so we can show appropriate seasonal Pals.
  • Basic device information (operating system version, screen size, language) so the app displays correctly on your phone.
  • Crash and error logs if the app misbehaves, so we can fix bugs.

Information we do NOT collect

  • We do not collect your photos, your photo library, or your camera roll.
  • We do not collect your microphone audio.
  • We do not collect your contacts or phone book.
  • We do not collect your browsing history outside of Pixie Pals.
  • We do not sell your information.

4. How we use information

  • To run the game (show Pals near you, save your progress, sync between devices)
  • To verify referral codes and award rewards
  • To prevent abuse (for example, blocking a referral link being used thousands of times)
  • To respond to your support emails
  • To improve the app (anonymous, aggregated usage trends)

5. Third-party services we use

Pixie Pals is built on a small set of trusted third-party services. Each handles a piece of the puzzle:

  • Supabase — stores your game progress and synchronizes it between your devices — privacy policy
  • Mapbox — renders the in-game map (when available) — privacy policy
  • OpenStreetMap — renders the map as a free fallback — attribution & policy
  • Open-Meteo — provides current weather at your location — terms
  • Apple App Store / Google Play — distribute the app and process any future in-app purchases — subject to Apple’s and Google’s own privacy policies

We do not use third-party advertising networks, social media trackers, or analytics services that build a profile of you across other apps.

6. Children’s privacy

Pixie Pals is family-friendly and we welcome parents and kids playing together. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 in violation of applicable law. If you are a parent and believe your child has provided us with information you would like deleted, email steve@pixievacations.com and we will remove it promptly.

7. Data retention and deletion

We keep your game data for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your data at any time:

  • In the future “sign-in” version of the app, an in-app Delete my account button will be added (required by Apple).
  • Today, since accounts are anonymous, you can delete the app from your device to stop new data from being collected. To request deletion of any cloud data tied to your anonymous device ID, email steve@pixievacations.com and we will remove it within 30 days.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live (e.g., the EU, UK, California), you may have rights to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Object to or restrict certain uses
  • Receive your data in a portable format

To exercise any of these rights, email steve@pixievacations.com.

9. Security

We use standard security practices including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all communication between the app and our servers, and we rely on Supabase’s row-level-security policies to ensure each user can only access their own data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to protect what we collect.

10. International users

Our cloud servers are located in the United States. By using Pixie Pals, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from your home country.

11. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the Effective date at the top and, if appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use of Pixie Pals after a change means you accept the updated policy.
