Disney sees an average of 52,000 visitors per day, many of whom are under the age of 5. These young visitors often can’t handle the trek from the parking lot to the main entrance, let alone the 2+ miles around The Magic Kingdom or the almost 3 miles around Epcot. For families with young children, strollers are vital for navigating the park quickly and safely and can help parents get from one ride to the next without leaving a little one behind.

If you’re not sure about what type of stroller is best for your visit to Disney, we’ve put together a detailed guide so you can “stroll” through Disney problem-free:

Effective May 2019, a new stroller policy sets the maximum size for strollers at 31? wide and 52? long. It also prohibits wagons or any other type of stroller that can be pulled behind you. When it comes to bringing a stroller to Disney, you have four options:

  • Bring your own
  • Buy one when you get here
  • Rent one at the parks,
  • Rent one from a third party vendor.

Bringing Your Own Stroller

Bringing your own stroller to Disney is the most cost-effective stroller option. Airlines allow you to check a stroller for free, so bringing one with you will not cost you any extra. Of course, when you bring your own stroller, there are no limitations for how long you can use it or where you can bring it, unlike rented strollers. Your kids are familiar with your stroller from home, and you are familiar with how it works. Bringing your stroller also means you have a stroller to use at the airport or your hotel without having to pre-order it, pay for it or pick it up somewhere.

On the downside, bringing your own stroller means lugging it through airports, folding it into rental cars, and finding space for it in your hotel room or vacation home. Families come to Orlando with a lot of stuff (and head home with even more!) so adding a big stroller to your list of things you need to carry can be overwhelming.

Buying One When You Get Here

Sometimes it can be more cost-effective to buy a stroller once you reach the Orlando area than rent one for the duration of your stay. Some families choose to run to the nearest Walmart or Target and pick up a stroller that they don’t mind leaving behind. This eliminates the hassle of getting the stroller back home but offers the convenience of a stroller during the trip. You can buy an umbrella stroller in any Disney Store, but it’ll cost you $60.

Another option is to buy a stroller online and have it shipped to your hotel. Ship your stroller about a week before your arrival date. You can call and check on the status of your delivery before you arrive to ensure that it has reached its destination. You may be charged a $5 package delivery fee from the hotels, but this is not consistent across all Disney hotels.

Having a stroller shipped to the apartment does run the risk of not arriving on time. If this is the case, you’ll be forced to either run out and buy one on your own or rent one from the parks. Although this wouldn’t be the end of the world for most families, it would be an inconvenience.

Buying one also means either finding a way to get it back home or leaving it behind.

Renting One At The Parks

Right inside the main entrance of every Disney park is a stroller rental center. They cost

$15 a day for a single stroller, ($13/day if you pre-pay for multiple days) or $31 a day for a double stroller ($27/day if you pre-pay for multiple days.) While renting a stroller from the parks can get expensive, they are pretty durable strollers and can be an excellent option for families with older kids since they can hold up to 100 pounds.

If you rent a stroller in the Magic Kingdom, you cannot take it with you over to Epcot or any of the other parks. You have to return the stroller and then show your receipt to the guest services center in the next park to redeem your stroller there.

Renting One From A Third Party Vendor

Disney has a handful of private vendors, also known as Disney Featured Providers, that can rent out and deliver strollers throughout the Orlando area. These trusted vendors are :

These vendors offer high-quality, easy to use and easy to fold strollers that retail anywhere between $300 and $700. Renting from a third-party vendor allows you to choose the type of stroller you want and designate specific pickup and drop off times. These providers also offer rain covers free upon request so that your little ones stay dry during one of Orlando’s famous afternoon sun showers. Typically the cost of renting a single stroller from these Disney featured providers is:

  • $40-60 total for 1-3 nights,
  • $60-80 total for 4-7 nights,
  • $80-100 total for 8-10 nights,
  • $100-120 total for 11-14 nights

And for double strollers:

  • $50-65 total for 1-3 nights
  • $70-85 total for 4-7 nights
  • $90-105 total for 8-10 nights
  • $110-125 total for 11-14 nights

When it comes to a family vacation at Disney, you can be sure there will be a lot of fun, a lot of magic, and a lot of walking. Whether you choose to rent, buy, or bring your own, a stroller can make the Disney experience more convenient for you and more comfortable for the young Mouseketeers in your family.
