Quick answer: No — booking Sandals or Beaches through a travel agent does not cost more. Sandals sets one price, and it is the same whether you book it yourself on Sandals.com or through an agency like ours. There is no agent fee, no markup, and no booking fee. Travel advisors are paid a commission by Sandals out of the resort’s own marketing budget — not by you. So you pay the identical rate and get an expert who has actually stayed at the resorts, watches your booking for price drops, and is on call if anything goes sideways during your trip.

Congratulations — if you’re looking at Sandals or Beaches, you’re planning something special: a honeymoon, an anniversary, a big family trip to a waterpark resort. And you’ve probably hit the question everybody asks before they hand a stranger their vacation: “Doesn’t it cost more if I book through an agent?”

I’m Steve Griswold. My wife Lisa and I run Pixie Vacations, and I hold Sandals’ Chairman’s Royal Club Platinum Elite advisor status. I’ve personally stayed at every Sandals and Beaches resort — including a few that have since come and gone. So let me answer this the way I’d answer a friend, with the actual mechanics and real numbers, not a sales pitch.

Do you really pay the same price? Yes — here’s how it works

Sandals Resorts uses what’s called rate parity. That means the nightly rate for a given room, on given dates, with a given promotion, is the same everywhere it’s sold — on Sandals.com, over the phone with Sandals directly, or through a certified travel agency like ours. You are not quoted a higher number because an agent is involved.

Every current Sandals sale — the up-to-65%-off promotions, the instant credits, the up-to-$750 air credit, the 0% Flex Pay payment plans — is available to you through us at the exact same terms. When I send you a quote, I’m pulling from the same inventory and the same promo calendar you see online. I just also know which of those overlapping promos actually stacks to the lowest total, which the website won’t tell you.

Same suite, same sale, same price — whether you click “book” yourself or we do it for you.

How travel agents actually get paid (the part nobody explains)

Here’s the transparency most sites skip. When you book a Sandals vacation through us, Sandals pays our agency a commission — a slice of the room-and-land portion of your trip — out of their budget. It’s money Sandals has already set aside to acquire and take care of guests. If you book yourself on the website, Sandals simply keeps that slice; you don’t get it back as a discount. Either way, your price is identical.

That commission is exactly why our planning service is free. Nobody at Pixie charges you a consultation fee, a planning fee, or a booking fee — ever. Booking with us is how we keep the free service free, and it costs you nothing extra to get an expert instead of a search box. I say this plainly because I’d want to know it: you’re not paying more for help; you’re redirecting money Sandals already spends into a real human who has been to the resort.

Book direct vs. book with Pixie: side by side

What you get Book direct on Sandals.com Book with Pixie Vacations
The nightly rate & current sale Same price Same price
Agent / planning / booking fee $0 $0
Someone who has actually stayed at the resort Up to you Every Sandals & Beaches resort, in person
Watches for price drops after you book & re-applies new sales You have to catch it yourself We monitor it for you
Room-category & building strategy for the best value Guesswork from photos Firsthand guidance
A human to call if a flight cancels or something’s wrong on-site Call-center queue Your advisor, directly
Group & free-room credits for 5+ rooms Not surfaced online Set up for you

Rate parity is set by Sandals; promotions and credits change often — we confirm the current specifics on your quote.

What a Sandals specialist adds that you can’t buy on the website

If the price is the same, the only real question is whether the help is worth having. The honest test: on a $6,000–$12,000 trip you take maybe once a year, do you want to guess, or do you want someone who has walked the property? Here’s what “walked the property” actually buys you.

The right resort for your trip, not the one with the best photos. Sandals runs 17 resorts across 8 Caribbean nations, and they are genuinely different vacations. A first anniversary, a 40th-birthday blowout, and a “we just need to not talk to anyone for five days” trip are three different resorts. I’ll tell you the truth about each — including the flaws. Sandals Royal Curaçao, for example, has a small, kind of rocky beach — but it also has a double-decker infinity-edge pool, a canal-side strip with parrots and hummingbirds, top-tier dining, and it sits outside the hurricane belt, which makes it my go-to for a September booking.

Sandals suite room category — a specialist helps you pick the building and view that give the best value
Different room categories are different vacations. Knowing which building and view to pick is where real money is saved.

Room-category guidance that saves you real dollars. At most Sandals resorts, two rooms with nearly the same view can be hundreds of dollars a night apart because one is in a pricier category or building. I know which ones are worth the jump for a special occasion and which are the quiet value pick that gets you the same sunset for less.

Let airfare help pick the island. This is the tip that saves families the most and it never shows up on a resort website. Part of the vacation is getting there. Jamaica has the most airlift and usually the cheapest flights; Turks & Caicos is boutique and expensive to reach. For a family of four or a multi-gen group, the total airfare across everyone can swing the smart resort choice by more than the room rate does. I look at the whole trip, not just the room line.

5 money hacks I use for every Sandals booking

None of these cost you a dime extra, and none of them are on the “book now” button.

Over-the-water bungalows at Sandals in Jamaica — the split-stay hack gets you the overwater experience for less
The over-water bungalow split-stay: Bora Bora vibes without the 18-hour flight — or the full-week bungalow bill.
  1. The over-water bungalow split-stay. An over-water bungalow in Jamaica is a bucket-list room — and a splurge for a whole week. So don’t book it for a whole week. Book roughly 5 nights in a regular suite and 2–3 nights in the over-water bungalow. You still get the wake-up-over-the-sea morning; you just don’t pay bungalow rates for all seven nights. Bora Bora without the 18-hour flight.
  2. Book early, then catch the later deal. Lock in your resort, room, and dates now so you actually get the room you want — then let me watch the promo calendar. If Sandals releases a better sale before your final payment, I re-price your existing booking to the lower total. You don’t have to stalk the deals page; that’s my job.
  3. Use 0% Flex Pay as a budgeting tool. Sandals lets you put down a deposit and pay the balance over time at 0% interest until final payment. It doesn’t lower the price, but it lets you grab a sale price today and spread the cost — and it means a price drop I catch along the way comes right off what you still owe.
  4. Shoulder-season windows. The week or two on either side of peak can be dramatically cheaper for nearly the same weather. If your dates are flexible, I’ll point you to the soft windows.
  5. Turn 5 rooms into a free one. Traveling with family or friends? A Sandals or Beaches group starts at just 5 rooms, and for travel between September 1 and December 20 you earn one free-room credit for every 6 rooms booked. A group code links everyone’s individual bookings at zero risk to you. Most people never know this exists because you can’t set it up from the website — you set it up with an advisor.

When booking direct is perfectly fine (I mean it)

I’m not going to pretend an agent is mandatory. If you already know the exact resort, the exact room category, and your exact dates; you don’t want any recommendations; you’re comfortable handling a flight problem or an on-site issue yourself; and you don’t care about someone re-pricing your trip if a sale drops — then go ahead and book direct. You’ll pay the same price I would have gotten you.

But notice what you’re giving up for zero savings: the firsthand resort match, the room strategy, the price-drop monitoring, the group credits, and a real person to call when a hurricane reroutes your flight the night before you leave. Since the cost is identical, the only reason to book direct is if you’d genuinely rather not have the help. Most people, once they know it’s free, want the help.

Already booked direct? You may be able to move it to us

If you booked on Sandals.com recently and wish you had an advisor in your corner, don’t assume you’re stuck. In many cases a booking made directly can be transferred to our agency shortly after you book — same price, same reservation, now with a specialist watching it. It’s time-sensitive, so send us your booking details or call 678-815-1584 and we’ll check whether yours still qualifies.

Frequently asked questions

Does booking Sandals through a travel agent cost more than booking direct?

No. Sandals uses rate parity, so the price for the same room, dates, and promotion is identical whether you book on Sandals.com or through a certified agency. There is no agent fee or markup. The agency is paid a commission by Sandals, not by you.

Do travel agents charge a fee to book Sandals?

At Pixie Vacations, no — we never charge a consultation, planning, or booking fee for Sandals or Beaches. Our planning service is free because Sandals pays us a commission out of its own budget when you book through us.

Can I get the current Sandals sale price through an agent?

Yes. Every public Sandals promotion — percentage-off sales, instant credits, air credits, and 0% Flex Pay — is available through us at the same terms. We also identify which overlapping promotions combine for the lowest total.

What happens if the price drops after I book?

If Sandals releases a better promotion before your final payment, we re-price your existing booking to the lower total. Booking early secures your room; monitoring the promo calendar for you is part of the service.

Can I transfer a Sandals reservation I already booked direct to Pixie Vacations?

Often, yes — a recently booked direct reservation can usually be transferred to our agency within a limited window at the same price. It’s time-sensitive, so contact us with your booking details and we’ll check if yours qualifies.

Is it better to book Sandals with an agent or direct?

Since the price is the same, an agent is the better choice unless you specifically don’t want help. You get firsthand resort knowledge, room-category strategy, price-drop monitoring, group credits, and a real person to call if travel plans go wrong — all at no extra cost.

Have a fantastic vacation — and if you’d like us to price it out for you at the same rate you’d pay Sandals directly, grab a free quote here or call 678-815-1584. — Steve
