The short answer: Beaches resorts offer complimentary supervised kids’ programs for children ages 0-17 through their Kids Camp, divided into age groups. For infants and toddlers (0-2), they offer a nursery program. For parents who want additional one-on-one care, private nanny services are available for an extra fee. The included kids’ programs are outstanding and most families don’t need a private nanny — but it’s a great option for parents of very young children or those who want date nights.

One of the most common questions we get from parents at Pixie Vacations is “What do I do with my kids at an all-inclusive?” At Beaches resorts, the answer is: just about everything. Here’s the complete breakdown.

Included Kids’ Programs at Beaches (Free with Your Stay)

Every Beaches resort includes supervised, age-appropriate kids’ programs at no extra cost. These are run by trained, certified childcare professionals.

Age Group Program What’s Included
Infants (0-2) Nursery Supervised nursery care with certified nannies, cribs, age-appropriate toys and activities. Available during set hours.
Toddlers (3-4) Camp Sesame Sesame Street character interactions, arts and crafts, storytelling, music, supervised pool time. Lunch included.
Kids (5-7) Camp Sesame More active Sesame Street programming — treasure hunts, beach activities, games, supervised waterpark time.
Tweens (8-10) Scratch DJ Academy / Xbox Play Lounge DJ mixing lessons, gaming tournaments, beach Olympics, group activities.
Teens (11-15) Liquid at Beaches / Trench Town Teen-only nightclub (non-alcoholic), social events, watersports, DJ sessions, movie nights.
Older Teens (16-17) Various Access to adult activities including water sports, spa (with parent consent), and resort amenities.

The Sesame Street partnership is the standout here — kids don’t just watch characters from a distance. They have breakfast with Elmo, participate in Sesame Street stage shows, and do arts and crafts with character mascots. For kids under 8, this is genuinely magical.

Private Nanny Service (Optional, Extra Fee)

For families who want dedicated one-on-one childcare beyond the group programs, Beaches offers private nanny service. This is especially useful for:

Parents of infants (under 1) who want evening coverage. The nursery has set daytime hours, but a private nanny can watch your baby while you enjoy a dinner date.

Families with special needs children who may need individualized attention rather than a group program.

Parents who want date nights. The kids’ camps run during the day, but private nanny service extends into the evening so you can enjoy the resort’s nightlife or a romantic dinner.

Approximate cost: Private nanny rates vary by resort but typically run $15-$25 per hour per child. Book early — especially during peak season — as private nanny availability is limited.

Do You Actually Need a Nanny at Beaches?

In my experience helping hundreds of families plan Beaches trips at Pixie Vacations, most families with kids ages 3+ don’t need the private nanny service. The included kids’ camps are that good — kids often beg to go back because they had so much fun with the Sesame Street characters and activities.

Where a nanny really helps: families with babies under 2 who want flexibility beyond nursery hours, and any family that wants evening childcare for date nights. If you’re traveling with a baby, I’d recommend budgeting for 2-3 evenings of nanny service to give yourselves those dinner dates. It’s worth it.

Tips for Families Using Kids’ Programs

Register early on arrival day. Walk to the kids’ camp desk right after check-in to register your children. This ensures they’re set up and can start activities the next morning.

Pack comfort items for the nursery. If your infant or toddler has a special blanket, pacifier, or stuffed animal, bring it. The nursery staff are wonderful but familiar items help with the transition.

Let older kids explore. Tweens and teens have their own dedicated spaces and activities. Give them some independence — the resort is safe, the staff is attentive, and kids this age thrive when they feel trusted to have their own vacation experience.

Book private nanny time in advance. If you know you want nanny service for specific evenings, request it when you book your trip or at least a few weeks before arrival. Peak-season availability is limited.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there an extra charge for the kids’ camp at Beaches?

No — the supervised kids’ programs are included with your stay at no extra cost. Only private one-on-one nanny service is an additional fee.

What’s the staff-to-child ratio at Beaches kids’ camp?

Beaches maintains industry-leading ratios. For infants, it’s approximately 1:2. For toddlers and young children, it’s approximately 1:4 to 1:6 depending on the activity.

Can my child do the waterpark without me?

Kids in supervised camp groups are taken to the waterpark with their counselors. For younger kids, a parent or the camp staff must be present. Older kids and teens can use the waterpark independently.
