Resurrected Soda Brand To Help Restore The Walt Disney Birthplace
Silver Lake, CA: The O-Zell Soda Company eagerly welcomes patrons to its new electronic store (www.o-zell.com) where it is presently offering a delectable duo of effervescent refreshment: Vanilla Dream and Blue Ribbon Root Beer, each sold by the dozen. Dina Benadon and Brent Young have established O-Zell for the purposes of funding the restoration of The Walt Disney Birthplace, the Chicago-based domicile which they purchased in 2013 (www.thewaltdisneybirthplace.org).
The O-Zell Soda Company was officially launched on May 3rd at Walt Disney’s former Woking Way home in Silver Lake. We were deeply humbled to serve our enchanting elixirs to such luminaries as Disney Legends Tony Baxter and Floyd Norman; Leslie Iwerks, daughter of Disney Legend Don Iwerks and granddaughter of Ub Iwerks; Alice Davis, wife of Disney Legend Marc Davis; Alan Coats, son of Disney Legend Claude Coats; and Becky Cline, director of the Walt Disney Archives.
Declared Ms. Davis, “O-Zell is better than Coke and you can quote me on that!” Henceforth, we shall!
Dina and Brent are pleased as punch to restore the O-Zell brand, which was first introduced just past the dawn of the 20th Century. Elias and Flora Disney, Walt and Roy Disney’s parents, were among the most significant investors in the venture, even purchasing stock in the names of their offspring. Reflecting upon O-Zell’s days of yore, Brent declared, “We were fascinated to learn about the Disney family’s connection to O-Zell. And once we discovered that O-Zell had planned to create a line of sodas, but never did, wheels started turning.”
Dina elaborated, “We realized this was an ideal way to help raise funds for restoring The Walt Disney Birthplace. So we have developed our delicious premium craft sodas with 100% all natural ingredients, including Hawaiian pure cane sugar and NO high fructose corn syrup.”

About The O-Zell Soda Company: O-Zell is based in Silver Lake, CA, barely a stone’s throw from the original location of Walt Disney’s Hyperion Studios. All proceeds from O-Zell’s sales will go directly to the restoration and preservation of The Walt Disney Birthplace and the development of The Center for Early Childhood Creativity and Innovation at The Walt Disney Birthplace, which will encourage and promote artistic development and imaginative thinking in young children.
About The Walt Disney Birthplace: This two-story wood cottage was designed by Flora Disney and hand-built by Elias Disney in 1893, in the Hermosa neighborhood of Chicago. Mere months after the family moved in (along with sons Herbert and Raymond), Roy Disney was born in the home. They were joined by Walt on December 5th 1901, also born in the home, and finally Ruth, in 1903. The time all seven Disneys lived in this house was the longest period the entire brood would spend under the same roof.
