Pixie tips that save real time
Pick the resort for the park you will visit most
- Magic Kingdom days: monorail or boat resorts
- EPCOT + Hollywood Studios days: BoardWalk, Yacht & Beach, or a Skyliner resort
- Animal Kingdom: everything is a bus, so stay where the buses are frequent
Rope drop rules
- Buses start 45 minutes before park opening; be at the stop 60–75 minutes before
- Early Entry (30 min) for resort guests is worth the alarm
- Monorail-resort guests: walk to MK from the Contemporary and skip the line
When to just take a car
- Resort-to-resort dining reservations
- Anything involving Disney Springs from a park
- Fireworks exit from Magic Kingdom (rideshare from the Contemporary)
Frequently asked questions
Is transportation free at Disney World?
Yes. Monorail, Skyliner, buses and boats are free for everyone, including guests staying off property (you will need to walk or drive to a Disney stop). Parking at the parks is charged for non-resort guests; Minnie Vans and rideshares cost extra.
How do I get from Magic Kingdom to EPCOT?
Ride the express monorail to the Transportation and Ticket Center, then the EPCOT monorail. Plan 30 to 40 minutes. There is no direct bus between the two parks.
How do I get from EPCOT to Hollywood Studios?
Three options: the Skyliner from International Gateway with a transfer at Caribbean Beach (about 15 minutes), the Friendship boat (about 20 minutes), or a 20-minute walk along the BoardWalk. Buses do not run between these two parks.
Can I take a bus from a theme park to Disney Springs?
No. Disney Springs buses run to and from resorts only. Take a bus to any resort and transfer, or use a rideshare from the park (about 15 minutes).
Which Disney resorts are on the monorail?
Disney's Contemporary Resort (and Bay Lake Tower), Disney's Polynesian Village Resort and Disney's Grand Floridian Resort. The Contemporary and Grand Floridian also have walking paths to Magic Kingdom.
Which resorts are on the Skyliner?
Caribbean Beach (the hub), Riviera, Pop Century and Art of Animation. The Skyliner reaches EPCOT's International Gateway and Hollywood Studios.
