What are the best Walt Disney World hotels for five people or more? Which Disney-owned hotels offer suites that sleep five or more?
Groups visiting Walt Disney World often expand from a family of four to more. What Walt Disney World hotels sleep five or more? The issue of having enough beds for a larger group in one hotel room often occurs during planning for the next Disney vacation.
When we listen to Universal Orlando Resort and Walt Disney World Resort’s marketing of vacation packages, we often hear pricing based on a family of four. We sometimes wonder if only groups of four visit the Orlando area theme park.
Of course, we know that many groups looking to stay at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel consist of more than four people.
Also, your family of four used to fit in a room with two queen beds, but now more space and bedding would be ideal. If available, you might be able to bring in a roll-away style bed. However, your two teenagers might fight over who must sleep on it.
No matter the reason, sometimes a hotel room that sleeps five or more needs to be booked for the Walt Disney World vacation. In a world of mostly hotel rooms that sleep four, where do you turn at Walt Disney World?
In fairness, if your group’s main goal regarding hotel accommodation is sleeping five or more in one room, then staying at a non-Disney-owned hotel may be an option to consider. The “Pixies” at Pixie Vacations can help your group book those hotels. There are several hotels “off-site” with free Disney shuttle service to choose from.
Two Rooms Better Than One Idea When Looking for Disney World Hotels for Five or More
In addition to considering staying “off-site”, booking two smaller rooms might be better than paying for one larger one. Since larger rooms that sleep five or more offer more, they also cost more. This means that sometimes, getting two standard rooms will cost less or the same as one large room. This principle rings true if you are willing to stay at a value-level Walt Disney World Resort hotel.
The price point increases noticeably over a standard room when looking at hotels with suites or an extra bed. Fewer rooms at the value-level hotels can sleep more than four. Still, if you booked two connecting or adjoining rooms at Disney’s Pop Century, you would have four queen-sized beds to sleep up to eight adults.
In contrast, if you book a room at a moderate-level hotel that provides rooms that sleep five, your group may not be as comfortable while paying a similar price. The moderate-level room sleeping five might only have a queen-size bed, a fold-out double bed, and a smaller bed that fits a child rather than a full-size adult. These distinctions can be discussed with your “Pixie” at Pixie Vacation at no fee to you.
Walt Disney World contains many different resort hotels, each with its unique theme and amenities. Many Disney hotels have suites for guests looking for a little extra room. These suites range from sleeping five to beds for 12. This resource will provide the essential information guests need to help decide if a more prominent room works well for them.
Walt Disney World Value Hotel Rooms That Sleep Five or More
The term value hotel at Walt Disney World refers to the lower-priced hotels. That does not mean these hotels fail to bring a quality experience. Still, the value hotels focus on groups of four. Thus, fewer of the value hotels have suites. The two value hotels that do are:
- Disney’s Art of Animation Resort
- Disney’s All-Star Music Resort
Both feature hotel rooms that sleep six. Disney’s Art of Animation family suites contain a queen bed, a double-sized table bed, and a double-sized sleeper sofa bed. These do sleep six, but there will be some togetherness. However, based on the “hidden” design of the beds, they fold up, creating more space in the room when your group is not sleeping. Though the rooms may be tight for a group of six, especially if it is all adults, the suite makes a great option for groups of five.
Disney’s All-Star Music Resort has a limited number of these suites. We suggest booking early if you want one. These will be the least expensive option for rooms that sleep five or more on Walt Disney World property. In addition, Disney’s All-Star Music Resort suites offer one queen bed in a private bedroom and two queen-size pull-down beds in the main living area. The layout differs slightly from Disney’s Art of Animation, with two queen beds inside the bedroom. However, the overall size is very similar. This hotel has a minimal number of suites, so guests should plan to book these well in advance.
In contrast, the suites at Disney’s Art of Animation are more numerous. However, because this is a higher-grade value Disney-owned hotel, the prices will be higher than at Disney’s All-Star Music Resort. The amenities are better at Disney’s Art of Animation, and the Disney Skyliner transportation option provides even more service. The Disney Skyliner uses a gondola-style vehicle to take guests to the four different resorts on the Skyliner, as well as Epcot and Hollywood Studios. Many Walt Disney World guests love having the Disney Skyliner option. This hotel could be the best value for a Disney vacation for larger groups. The themes of the family suites at Disney’s Art of Animation are:
- Finding Nemo
- Lion King
- Cars
Walt Disney World Moderate Hotel Rooms That Sleep Five or More
Walt Disney World has two moderate-level hotels that offer suites for larger groups: Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort and The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort. However, two other moderate-level hotels at Walt Disney World can technically accommodate five people in some of their rooms.
Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside and Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort have some rooms that sleep five. However, those rooms have two queen beds and a drop-down or sleeper sofa-style bed. For those hotels, the bed that enables it to sleep five would best suit a child, not a full-grown adult.
For groups with more adults, Disney’s Coronado Springs and The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness make better options to sleep five or more. In fairness, some experts do not consider The Cabins at Fort Wilderness to be at a moderate level. They express that these unique accommodations should be placed in their own category between moderate and deluxe. Perhaps certain rooms at Disney’s Coronado Springs should also be their own category.
Either way, the moderate-level hotels offer slightly better amenities than the value resorts, such as more spacious rooms, better on-site restaurants, hot tubs, and higher-quality pool areas.
Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort
Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort is a large property. Many conventions happen at this location. It offers plenty of variety in terms of dining options. It offers three types of rooms, with bed options for sleeping between five and eight people. These rooms include:
- Casitas One Bedroom Suite: This suite sleeps up to six adults. It has two queen beds in a separate bedroom and one queen-size sleeper sofa in the main living area.
- Casitas—Executive Suite: This suite sleeps up to eight adults. It provides one king bed, two queen beds, and one queen sleeper sofa. This spacious suite includes a large dining table where you can gather for meals in the room.
- Suites with Club Access: In the Gran Destino Tower, suites with club access can comfortably sleep groups of five or more people. The Presidential Suite can sleep up to six adults, including one king and two queen beds. This option is also very spacious, while more expensive, with a full-size living room and dining area.
The Cabins at Fort Wilderness
The Campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort reside near Magic Kingdom. In fact, a dedicated boat will take guests back and forth from here to Magic Kingdom. Although many guests bring their own RVs or tents to camp at Fort Wilderness, the campsite also offers cabins that you can rent.
The Wilderness Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort can sleep up to six adults. The rooms include one queen bed, a double sleeper sofa bed, and one bunk bed.
Disney World Deluxe Resorts with Suites
As has been implied, if not clearly stated, rooms that sleep five or more cost more. Guests would expect a five-person room to cost more than a standard two-queen room. However, most rooms that sleep five or more are in the “Deluxe” level category at Walt Disney World. These come with more perks but also will damage your Disney vacation budget more. When you factor in the need to sleep five or more, these demand planning for most budgets.
However, deluxe resort guests can take advantage of “Extended Evening Hours,” which are exclusive after-hours opportunities to visit a Disney theme park. These happen periodically throughout the week. Additionally, deluxe-level resorts have the best options for restaurants, lounges, and pool areas.
Of course, the rooms present a more luxurious appearance compared to the moderate or value hotels. Deluxe-level Disney resorts offer many room size options, including studios and standard-sized rooms that can sleep up to five guests. Deluxe resorts can book a room in their respective club-level suites. The clubs are typically open all day and night, with service between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. The club-level lounge will offer complimentary breakfast, appetizers, and desserts and is an excellent place to take a break.
Many deluxe resorts have a patio or balcony. They might even have a kitchenette or a full kitchen. Also, one-bedroom or larger villas have a washer and dryer. This makes an excellent feature for extended stays if you want to wash clothes.
Disney World Hotels for Five: Disney’s Contemporary Resort
When many people think of Walt Disney World, they visualize Disney’s Monorail going through Disney’s Contemporary Resort. This Disney-owned hotel sits within walking distance of Magic Kingdom.
This hotel offers several options in terms of rooms and suites that sleep five or more. However, like some moderate hotels, the deluxe studios at this hotel will technically sleep five, but the fold-down bed in those rooms works best for a child, not a full-grown adult.
In contrast, Disney’s Contemporary Resort offers plenty of larger rooms for groups to enjoy. The Main Tower, Garden Wing, and Club Level Studios all sleep five or more. These rooms have different layouts, so groups should be able to find one that fits their needs.
For a more elevated experience, Disney’s Contemporary Resort has Club Level Rooms and Suites that will sleep between five and ten adults. Some of these rooms provide a view of Magic Kingdom. Also, being club-level, guests can access Disney’s Contemporary Resort’s Atrium Club.
Disney’s Contemporary Resort has spacious villas ranging from one to three bedrooms. Depending on the villa chosen, they can easily fit five to twelve adults.
Disney’s Polynesian Resort
Conveniently located on the monorail, Disney’s Polynesian Resort pulls guests into the Polynesian theme. It offers excellent restaurants, pools, and lounges. Since it is so close to Magic Kingdom, guests love the location along Disney’s Monorail.
Disney’s Polynesian Resort’s rooms and suites options for groups of five or more include:
- Standard Rooms or Deluxe Studios: This resort’s standard and deluxe studios will sleep five guests. It might be a tight fit, but bedding is available for five. In addition, the deluxe studios have two bathrooms: one full bathroom with a tub and one-half bathroom with a sink and walk-in shower only.
- Club-Level Rooms and Suites: Disney’s Polynesian Resort contains club-level suites that can sleep between five and eight adults. These suites have access to the Polynesian’s King Kamehameha Club. The club-level experience works the same as described earlier.
- Bungalows: The most unique rooms that sleep five or more are the bungalows. These rooms sleep up to eight full-size adults. These bungalows reside very near the Seven Seas Lagoon. Guests wishing to feel away from the hustle and bustle of the Walt Disney World Resort can experience it in their home away from home. The bungalows contain one king bed, one queen bed, one queen-size pull-down bed, and two single pull-down beds. Each bungalow also has its own private plunge pool. This enables a great viewing area for the nightly fireworks at Magic Kingdom.
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
For those looking for even more luxury, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa meets that desire. This Disney deluxe-level hotel also resides along Disney’s Monorail. Guests can also take a walking path from this resort hotel to Magic Kingdom. It offers several room-style options for groups of five or more people.
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort contains rooms in various layouts and views. The standard rooms sleep five. Also, the deluxe, resort, and club-level studios sleep up to five people.
For those looking for more space, Disney’s Grand Floridian has club-level one- and two-bedroom suites that accommodate up to eight adults. Guests in these rooms have access to the Royal Palm Club.
Guests looking for even more space can book a villa at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. These include one to three-bedroom villas that can sleep between five and 12 adults. The three-bedroom villa also has a large dining and living room area.
Disney World Hotels for Five: Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort
