The short answer: The best age for kids at Beaches resorts is 3-10 years old — that’s the sweet spot where children get the most out of the Sesame Street character experiences, kids’ camps, waterparks, and supervised activities. However, Beaches works well for all ages from infants through teens. Babies (0-2) benefit from the nursery program, and teens (11-17) have their own dedicated spaces and activities.
After helping hundreds of families plan Beaches trips at Pixie Vacations, here’s my age-by-age breakdown of what the experience is really like for kids.
Age-by-Age Guide to Beaches Resorts
Infants & Babies (0-2 Years)
The experience: Beaches offers a supervised nursery program for infants, with trained caregivers, cribs, and age-appropriate toys. The resort pools have shallow wading areas, and the beaches have calm, protected waters at most properties.
The reality check: You can absolutely bring a baby to Beaches, but you won’t get as much “vacation” as you would with an older child. Babies don’t use the waterpark, the Sesame Street shows, or the kids’ camp activities. You’re mostly enjoying the resort as adults with a baby in tow, plus some nursery time for breaks.
Worth it? Yes, if this is a multi-generational trip where grandparents can help, or if you plan to use the private nanny service for evening coverage. If you’re looking to maximize the Beaches-specific family programming, consider waiting until your child is at least 3.
Toddlers & Preschoolers (3-5 Years) — THE SWEET SPOT BEGINS
The experience: This is where Beaches starts to truly shine. Kids this age are old enough to participate in Camp Sesame, where they interact with Sesame Street characters, do arts and crafts, play in supervised pool areas, and attend character breakfasts. The waterpark splash areas are designed for this age group.
Why it’s magical: For a 3-5 year old, having breakfast with Elmo is a life-defining experience. They remember it. They talk about it for years. The Camp Sesame programming is specifically designed for this age range, and the staff are trained to make every child feel special.
Worth it? Absolutely — this is one of the best ages for a Beaches trip. Your child is old enough to participate but young enough to be completely enchanted.

Elementary Age (6-10 Years) — PEAK BEACHES AGE
The experience: This is the absolute peak age for Beaches. Kids can do everything — waterpark, snorkeling, beach games, treasure hunts, Sesame Street shows, arts and crafts, and they’re independent enough to spend time in the supervised kids’ camp while you enjoy some adult time.
Why it’s the best: Kids this age have the perfect combination of enthusiasm and independence. They’re wowed by the waterpark, they love the organized activities, they can swim and snorkel, and they’re happy to spend hours in the kids’ camp making friends with other children from around the world. Meanwhile, you get actual relaxation time.
Worth it? This is the #1 age range I recommend for Beaches. If your kids are 6-10, book it.
Tweens (11-13 Years)
The experience: Tweens have access to dedicated tween programming including Scratch DJ Academy (learn to mix music), Xbox gaming lounges, beach Olympics, and group activities. They’re also old enough for most water sports.
The reality check: Some tweens love the programming; others feel they’ve “outgrown” the Sesame Street vibe and want more independence. The tween programs bridge this gap, but your mileage varies depending on your child’s personality.
Worth it? Yes, especially if they’re traveling with siblings (they have their own space while younger kids do Sesame Street activities). Also great if your tween is social and enjoys meeting other kids.
Teens (14-17 Years)
The experience: Teens have their own nightclub space (non-alcoholic), social events, water sports, and access to most adult activities. They can use the spa (with parent consent), go snorkeling, and generally enjoy the resort with a high degree of independence.
The reality check: Teens at Beaches generally have a great time, but they’re enjoying the resort as a beach vacation rather than the Beaches-specific programming. You could take a teen to any good Caribbean all-inclusive and they’d have a similar experience.
Worth it? Yes for a family vacation, but the Beaches-specific value proposition (Sesame Street, kids’ camp, waterpark) is less relevant for teens. If you’re traveling ONLY with teens, you might consider a Sandals resort or another adults-oriented all-inclusive instead.

My Recommendation
If you’re planning one big family trip to Beaches, the absolute best time to go is when your youngest child is between 3 and 8 years old. That’s when the Sesame Street experience, the waterpark, and the kids’ camp all deliver maximum magic. If you have kids at different ages, aim for the younger one being in that range — older siblings will have plenty to do too.
